Final Portfolio

Image
This is my final portfolio of all of the art that I have made in this class. I chose the colors blue and pink to be the theme of this portfolio because they are some of my favorite colors and I liked the ways that they contrasted with each other. For my table of contents, I decided to add little logos in front of every assignment title, these logos represent the program used to create the project. For the about me section, I added two pictures of me and wrote a basic description of myself and my experience in digital media. After the about me, I used a two page spread for my canvas image. I did the same thing for my calligram. One of my favorite parts about my portfolio is the way that I incorporated the program logo in the two page spread design for the first two pages within each program unit. For my autoscopy, I decided to mirror the pages, with one having the title and actual autoscopy image, and the other one has the text and my inspirational images. I end with "...

InDesign Tutorials

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ka2dh5wU6Es https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVW8AF2TMnw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHDy_nEvgd4     After watching these three tutorials, I learned a lot about the program and its tools. Some of my favorite tools that I understand and would like to use are the type tool, the frame tool, the shape tool, and the page tool. All of these tools make it possible to make layouts with different texts and images. I think that these tools will be some of the most common ones that I use in my work.      I think that the hardest indesign tools that I may have to use are the scissors tool and the convert direction point tool. I think that these tools will be difficult for me to use because it is hard for me to understand when I would use them. I think that the scissor tool may be useful, but I don't think that I will have to use it in my assignments because I won't need to cut anything out of my pages. I think that the convert direct...

Business Cards

Image
For this assignment we were to make three different business cards in Adobe Indesign. This required me to learn about the different techniques to work with in the program, how to create different designs, how to insert images like my logos, and how to use different fonts. Before working in the program, I created three different business card sketches, front and back. They are below. After making the sketches I kind of had an idea of what I was going to make in Indesign, and I am really happy with the way my business cards turned out. For the first two I focused on simple designs, but used colors that made my logo and the font pop. The font I used will make it easy for people to read the important information on the business card. For the third one, I went with the jungle theme and made my own kind of tiger stripes. I think that this came out really cool and the vertical one is definitely my favorite. Overall, I think this project helped me learn the program better. I...

Gunderson-Somewhere

Image
For this assignment, we were supposed to pick a picture or movie scene, take a picture of ourselves, and then make it look like we are in the specific scene using Adobe Photoshop. For this project, I chose to photoshop myself into the car scene from "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". I chose this movie because it is one of my all time favorites and I love a lot of different parts about it. I incorporated my tag logo into the shirt the man on the left is wearing, warping the image so that it looks like part of the shirt. Some hard parts about this project was using the stamp tool to get rid of the guy in the background as well as using different masking layers with different opacities to match the color of the original image and the brightness of the sun coming from the left. Overall, this project took about 3 hours, was fun to make, and I liked that I got to pick what scene I was able to put myself into. I think that it is really cool that with photoshop, you can make it look...

Pre-Somewhere blog homework

Image
I think that this would be a hard picture for me to photoshop myself into simply just because there is no realistic place to put myself. This picture was inspirational for my project because I would like to photoshop myself into the scene of a movie that I like. I was think about using a different 8 mile scene but this one is definitely cool! I found this photo the most funny because I also like the kids face. I have seen other jokes that this guy has done and I love his sense of humor. I would like to re-create this image because it looks really cool and I like how it tricks the eye based on where angle of the camera. I also like cars to I thought this was really cool.

Gunderson Autoscopy

Image
For this project, we were to create an autoscopy in Adobe Photoshop, which meant we had to re create a picture of ourselves in a cool and different way using other images with different layering tools and techniques. I had 5 pictures that I used in this project, and they are below. The goal that I was going for with my autoscopy was to represent myself and my creative side. In the back ground is the Willis tower, which represents my home town of Chicago. Behind that is a record store shelf to represent my love for music. I decided to mask my sweatshirt in a stone pattern to represent my inner strength. I played with the hue and saturation on my flannel, then I added the swirly pattern over parts of the building and the records. Finally, I used the brush tool to draw onto my eyes in order to make things look cooler and more vibrant. Overall, this project took me about 5 hours total to complete and I had a lot of fun making it. I think that this is...
