Internet/ World Wide Web Blog post

By definition, Internet is "a global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols.". Internet was founded by Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn in 1969. It was originally made and used for simple communication between computers, starting out with only the letters "LO". Currently, the Internet is one of the most important things about modern day society, with it being used for communication, education, calculation, or anything else that you can imagine.

Something much similar to Internet is the World Wide Web, which is by definition; "an information system on the Internet which allows documents to be connected to other documents by hypertext links, enabling the user to search for information by moving from one document to another.". The World Wide Web was invented by Sir Tim Burners-Lee in 1989. It was made because at the time there was different information on different computers and no way to share it, so he made the code to connect the information over the internet. It is still currently used for the same purpose with all of the different websites that are on the World Wide Web.

These two things however, are not the same. The World Wide Web is dependent on the internet. Without the internet, there would be no such thing as a World Wide Web. They are similar in the sense that they both share information between computers, yet the World Wide Web is more of an add-on. These two things work together to spread information about everything all over the world. If we did not have these things, I believe that our quality of life would be no where as good as it is.

The first website ever made was made by Sir Tim Burners-Lee in 1991. This website is still up and its URL was http://info.cern.ch.
